The Pointer Sisters Rocked the '80s
The Pointer Sisters came out of Oakland, California and became one of the most popular groups of the ‘80s. They came to Leviticus to hang out and dance on our signature black and white dance floor. Initially, Bonnie Pointer was part of the group but decided to launch a solo career in 1977. The remaining sisters, June, Ruth, and Anita, achieved tremendous success with hits such as “Jump,” “I’m So Excited,” “Automatic,” “He’s So Shy,” “Neutron Dance”, and many more.
The Pointer Sisters brought energy and excitement to the dance floor and contributed mightily to the acceptance of disco into the ‘80s and beyond. Whenever there is a party or gathering where you want people to get up and dance, all you have to do is play one of the Pointer Sisters’ hit songs. They won three Grammys and have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. June Pointer passed away from cancer in 2006 but the music she helped to create will live on forever.
