Point vs counterpoint - after Bihar, the debate between BJP fans and AAP fans continue to rage.

Point vs counterpoint - after Bihar, the debate between BJP fans and AAP fans continue to rage.

Here's a summary:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fan: OMG, look in this pic Arvind Kejriwal is hugging corrupt Lalu! Such a hypocrite!!

Aam Aadmi Party - Delhi fan: See, in these other pics, Narendra Modi is hugging a corrupt BS Yeddyurappa, and in this one Modi's shaking hands and joking with Lalu Prasad Yadav too - so what's the big deal?

BJP fan: But.. but... the Modi- Lalu picture was at a wedding, and Yeddyurappa wasn't convicted of corruption while Lalu was... so Modi was fine to do it and Kejri wasn't...

AAP fan: Yeddyurappa was convicted AND went to jail, and still Modi and the BJP supported him.

BJP fan: Well, it just proves Kejriwal is like anybody else, on the same plane as Modi and there's nothing godly about him... Modi has never claimed to be holier than thou

AAP fan: Well, Modi does falsely claim his average 44 inch chest to be 56 inches... haha - but anyway when did Kejriwal claim to be God or holier than thou?

BJP fan: See Modi isn't anti-corruption, so him hugging corrupt Yeddy and supporting corrupt Nitin Gadkari , and not taking action against the corrupt BJP folks behind Vyapam or still supporting corrupt Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan is not wrong... it's not hypocritical, it's okay, it's all right, it's just politics!

AAP fan: Well, Modi still publicly speaks of corruption being a big problem and how he's working against it! So of course Modi is a hypocrite if he continues to support Yeddy, Raje, Gadkari and gang!

BJP fan: Okay, okay, Modi may just be another politician, but so is Kejriwal, he thought himself so high and mighty...

AAP fan: Dude, he was one of 8 CMs from around India who came to Nitish Kumar's swearing-in, and actually Lalu waylaid him at the event and forced a hug on him. What was he to do, push him away?

BJP fan: OMG but Kejriwal is such a turn-coat - he supported the Maha Gath Bandhan

AAP fan: So what? All the opposition parties supported the MGB - did you expect AAP to support the BJP, especially when it has made life difficult for Delhi people even after being thrown out of Delhi 3 to 67?

BJP fan: But Modi is great, okay - he did nothing wrong - the BJP only lost because the MGB came together - and all the parties had to unite to defeat them.

AAP fan: Umm, not really - when you see the results you can see that the JD (U) and the RJD each individually and separately trounced the BJP in the number of seats in Bihar. And even the Congress won a greater percentage of seats it had contested in Bihar than the BJP did.

BJP fan: They're fools, the Biharis!

AAP fans: But just 18 months ago you thought they were geniuses when they gave the BJP 30% of the vote share in Bihar in the Lok Sabha elections and BJP won most of the seats there... Now it's declined to 24% - and this is after Modi himself addressed over 40 rallies in Bihar where he made promises to give them 125 crores - while dragging his feet on 8,000 crores to ex-servicemen.

So obviously something turned Biharis from geniuses to fools in just 18 months - do you think it was probably something to do with BJP's performance versus its promises?

After all the people who moved away from BJP in Bihar obviously thought they were better off going back and trusting Nitish and even a Lalu over a Modi... It was a pretty clear anti-Modi wave by the common people

BJP fan: No! No! No! Well see what's happened now - Lalu's un-educated son is the Deputy Chief Minister - how terrible!

AAP fan: Well, Smriti Zubin Irani is our national HRD minister, and she's just done her 12th - so things are in the same proportion, right? After all, even our Prime Minister claims to be just a chai-walla, hmm?

BJP fan: It's all wrong! It's a conspiracy by the media - the BJP is made out to be bad when it's actually awesome - and all these allegations about the RSS and us are wrong wrong wrong...

AAP fan: When the Congress was in power you shouted loud that the Congress was ruled by an un-elected person Sonia Gandhi who had all the power but no accountability. Now that you guys are in power you can see the same thing - the BJP is actually ruled by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh : RSS and Mohan Bhagwat, who are also un-elected with all the power and no accountability (remember, Modi, Smriti and others were RSS members long before they ever became BJP members).

Every month or so the top BJP leaders have to go and get their report cards signed by RSS in Nagpur... don't you think the RSS policies of anti-beef, pro-Hindutva actually added to people's distrust of BJP?

After all people voted for BJP and then strangely found the RSS in power - if RSS wants legitimacy for its beliefs - let it stand for elections na? It'll be trounced so badly it can't show its face in India after that...

BJP fan: No no no the RSS is a good, social organisation, you don't appreciate what it does...

AAP fan: Yes, of course, the RSS and BJP in Goa want to cancel Gandhi Jayanti as a holiday and another part of the RSS wants his killer Nathuram Godse to have a holiday in his honour right?

BJP fan: It's all a conspiracy I tell you, a conspiracy!!!

AAP fan: When you won the elections last year and were widely celebrated by the same media how come that wasn't a conspiracy then? And suddenly it's a conspiracy now?

...and the argument continues

I only say whosoever be in power of Administration came after wining people's mandate must focus the agenda, promises made to people, get their common basic needs have them to the last poor powerless to reach. Much is much all people are watching them.

Hi Mahesh There is a valid argument and debate on taking AAP vis a vis BJP. The choice is ours looking into the positioning and functioning of both. It is an unending debate with points and counterpoints. However we need to think holistically as to the aggregation of good work outcome. The answers might not be so straightforward but again not every time you get a straight answer!!!

Bjp bashing... Folks please come up with constructive criticism, rather then venting out your biases. India first individuals next......as a party even in the worst case scenario better then the parties who are scam ridden, use dynastic politics, minority appeasement techniques for. Vote bank and use public office for personal gain. It is always better then an institution which started of as a movement against corruption to form political party. We have another party who uses casteism for vote bank. Agreed constitution has permitted caste as an integral part of Indian polity. We should be reasonable enough to not let it cripple the system. I fail to understand this double standard pseudo minded professionals who are hell bent on stopping the nations progress, by being obstructionist not just in parliament but on social sites. I can write in lengths of the progress but I know it's of no use writing so much to make some people understand what is India's position today. If I may be termed jingoistic in my approach it is totally acceptable coz for me nation is first and it shall not be clouded and guided by individuals perception and preferences for it knows. What is best for its people. No offence to be taken nothing personal. Jaihind Jaibharat

Not the right place for political comments and stories. and this is a professional site. As a quick response, the local elections work differently with trust demonstrated in local leadership. Even if you do a loksabha election again now, my sense is that Bihar will vote for Modi as PM again as there is no alternative. On BJP's support for corrupt politicians along with no change in corruption on the ground and also no systemic way to tackle corruption (no Lokpal institution or automation of government procurement etc.) were on the expected lines and its the same behavior for all political parties everywhere. One example is about double speak (e.g. Arun Jaitely being disappointed with budget 3 years back and stating income up to 5 Lacs should be tax free) but now want to make 25% tax rate for companies and not for individuals. Our expectations were high and unreasonable. BJP's support for businessman and crony capitalism is evident in all bills that are being diluted to suit businessman (e.g Real Estate Regulation, wherein they allowed 10% deviation for builders, removed jail term, and for all dispute instead of going to regulator and now common man has to go to local consumer forum) in the name of giving thrust to economy. So all capitalism is a crony capitalism,. As the time passes by both Kejriwal and BJP will demonstrate similar behavior.

Honestly, the BJP supporters dont even come to a debate. They simply call you an AAPtard or AP supporter and thats the end of it. Ask about Modi's achievement in the last one and half year, they have nothing much to say. When will some BJP supporters start talking about RESULTS ?
