“A point in every direction is like having no point at all”*
Part 5 of our "What is Coaching all about" Chris Renner TruNorth Coaching and Business Advisory Services (*adopted from "The Pointed Man by Harry Nilsson)
This week we take a different spin on the change discussion.?? Let’s look at choices and the seemingly unending demands for our time, our attention and our enjoyment.? I have always liked Steve Jobs quote: “Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do” ?and I think is a good reference for this topic.?
Life builds and changes daily so keeping yourself pointed toward your True North and maintaining balance takes not only reflection and self awareness, you need to stop long enough to take your bearings and ensure that not only is the right course set, but that the destination has not shifted.
Coaching can help provide that space for reflection to help you set those new goals.
I invite you to ask yourself these key questions:
·???????? What is happening right now that makes me feel unbalanced?
·???????? What may I need to do differently to regain my balance?
·???????? Why is this important to me?
·???????? What will be the impact when I do?
·???????? How do I want to show up for myself (my colleagues, friends, or family) in the future?

·???????? What is my best path to get there?
?
Words matter to motivation, so try some simple ways to rephrase your approach:
Replace:
·???????? “There is no time…” ?with “What can I do differently…”
·???????? “I miss doing…” ?with “I should do more of…”? “What is stopping me from…”
·???????? “I can’t decide what…” with “What will be the best impact for me if I…” ?
?
Not every choice has to be a problem or a burden, but the universal truth is that every decision begins with you taking the first step, followed by the next, they do not need to be massive leaps.
Thank you for taking the time to reflect with me.? Reach out if you want to talk more about this topic.
