The goal of this series of regular posts, until further notice, is to offer up for consideration points for contemplation represented by topical cognitive development.?This differs from submitting for consideration an ideal in which adoption or debate ensues.??As has been our thinking from the onset it’s not about creating adopters but developing mindsets, on your terms in such a way that respectful dialog can occur.?Without this cognitive development we are left with fact less and often emotional contention that polarizes not grows societal development.

Even the most active and creative thinkers have their moments.?As is often the case though occurs as a result of some form of environmental stimulus.?It may be the result of events, discussions, or that lingering thought that for some reason has come to the surface.?It’s this ebb and flow in discernment that creates points-to-ponder (P2P).?

  • Hard questions to ask (in consideration of others whether it be based on intellect or emotional commitment) and even harder to answer (for much the same reasons) have become a new normality.??Is it because we are inundated with information (in actuality its data because it is unsubstantiated for the most part without facts) or are there other reasons? ?#questions #answers ?#influences
  • Superficial facts that are just shy of being completely truthful.?We are routinely presented with rebuttals that are either fact less, like the ‘in theory’ or ‘generally’ arguments , to those that present a fact but stops short to articulate underlying truths.?For example, a claim as to how many of a certain population exists that bear a certain trait.?All the while behind the trait are hidden unspoken truths that hide the truth about who that population group really is.?It’s at this juncture that we start to seeing contention occur.?No one likes to have their hidden truths revealed.?Is it because we don’t like to be exposed, denial or something even more manipulative that is taking place??So what do you do??#partialtruths ?#unspokenfacts ?#hiddentruths
  • Sometimes discussions are simply not worth it.?So why do we continue???Is it to prove your point, correct a wrong, educate or the allure of debate???What is overlooked is the mental, emotional and intent state of your counterpart.?In the world of public forums there are no ‘debate’ rules and thus we can expect that the interchange will be one that has a measure of decorum.?We can only expect a written shouting match in which the war of words become in and of themselves a point for misunderstanding.??Creating an interchange is often will ill intent and a desire to allure others into taking sides.??Rest assured we have also been sucked into these and have learned to be cautiously measured in our response.?A degree of importance, the desire to discover motive are a few reasons to probe carefully.?But at the same time we aspire to use our time and energy wisely.?Sometimes it best to just let true intentions reveal themselves.?#contention ?#interchange ?#objectives ?#purpose
  • What’s in a title??In my early years I wanted a prestigious title to achieve notice, being heard and a degree of respect.?What I discovered is that a title did none of these and that this created just the opposite.??Lessons learned in the spirit of youth.?So left with a fulfilled dream without fulfillment my focus shifted to contributory leadership.??This produced much better results in terms of respect, recognition and appreciation.?It is however not without barriers, especially when your efforts challenge long standing practices and conditions.?This creates growth in experience and strength in overcoming the normality of adversity.?Where are you in this journey??#titles ?#position ?#capabilities ?#expertise ?#achievement
  • Appreciation is a gift that is bestowed.?Does it have to be spoken or can it be exemplified through actions??Allot has to do with recognizing that appreciation is a emotion that ‘should’ occur when an act enables another.?I like to think of it as a classy act and not just a superficial gesture that is passed along.?The passage of time helps to remove this superficiality by way of it having a contextual realization element.?When asking someone do you appreciate most likely they will say ‘yes’.?But are they appreciative, have they demonstrated it and was the act carried out in an appropriate way (that places the spotlight on something other than themselves)??#appreciation?#expression?
  • An observation made is that fortitude and staying power eventually results in a loss of steam.?At first we thought it was the result of durable life being met (or exceeded).?But subsequent inquiries and review revealed a much different reason… loss of conviction due largely to expectations not being met in the timeframe that had lapsed.?Some of the most notable efforts with commendable creation fell to the impression that it wasn’t working.?In our early years we too gave up too quickly only to see the lapse of time reinvigorate the topic.?Had we stuck with the agenda a bit longer we would be so far ahead.?Today when we reach the point of concession we give ourselves some added time to see if is as we think or whether it’s simply that plateau that will lead to achieving.?#concession?#commitment?#preserver
  • The resulting pandemic has put a stop to conferences in the face-to-face context.?These have been replaced with a scaled down digital version.?This shift has become more of a mimic than a recreation of the age old meet-and-greet format.??Conferences are a bit misleading in that they do not do.?To confer (def.) is to grant/bestow in exchange discussions.?Yet is this happening or are we sitting there in a daze listening to incessant rambling by noted experts by title and who they are affiliated with??Obviously we need some sort of attraction hook to draw attendance but also it would seem that we have sold out the audience by offering speaking slots to commercial enterprises who will help fund the event.?We have lost sight of the knowledge conveyance aspect of a gathering.?Further our ability to interchange, which was more recreational than intellectual formative has left a void in the many conferences.?As a business we should not just be concerned about knowledge content value but should also be deeply concerned whether the doctrine being advocated is caustic or developmental (especially for paradigm themed events).??Have you vetted what your company is being exposed to??#conference?#content?#value?#knowledge
  • Meetings have repeatedly been a lament amongst people and has even reached a level of concern by enterprise leadership.?Despise is a nice way of saying hate for the emotion we feel about meetings, why is that???Maybe it’s because of misuse of time and further exemplified by poorly managed delivery.??ALL meetings regardless of duration should be supported by an agenda and what the outcome should be.?They also need to be concise and not exhaustive.?If its one of those cases where it’s a regularly scheduled event, its ok to proclaim that there is nothing to discuss rather than to make it a social free for all that produces little positive value.?Meetings as a communication device helps to share collectively information and develop an interchange.?However, some of the content would be better served in the form of preparatory written form, why??The main reason is that the act of writing helps us to valid, consider, ponder, organize and further explore our thoughts.?If not done then we are apt to verbally ramble hoping to find a path but taking everyone with us in a unsavory and sorted route.?Make meetings purposeful involves reflection (and not just routine rejection).?#meetings?#purpose?#value?#goalachievement
  • In the never ending barrage of information we are presented with all sort of ‘authoritative’ sources.?These follow into a couple of types;?research papers and opinion papers (the vast majority).?Research papers are consistently using the precept of identify, select, process and analyze on its way to reaching possible conclusions.?This eliminates bias and prejudice WHEN appropriate objective oversight is exercised.?However in the case of opinion papers they are more of literary works created to portray a particular advocacy.?Because of this we must be particularly careful to not arrive at an incorrect conclusion that opinion is research.?#research?#opinion?#bias?#prejudice?#framework
