The goal of this series of regular posts, until further notice, is to offer up for consideration points for contemplation represented by topical cognitive development. This differs from submitting for consideration an ideal in which adoption or debate ensues. As has been our thinking from the onset it’s not about creating adopters but developing mindsets, on your terms in such a way that respectful dialog can occur. Without this cognitive development we are left with fact less and often emotional contention that polarizes not grows societal development.
Even the most active and creative thinkers have their moments. As is often the case though occurs as a result of some form of environmental stimulus. It may be the result of events, discussions, or that lingering thought that for some reason has come to the surface. It’s this ebb and flow in discernment that creates points-to-ponder (P2P).
- Given the pervasive amount of untruths one might wish to look at things a bit different. Instead of trying find truth concentrate on the removal of false claims. The residual will reflect truth or at least the bare boned stand established and from this one can determine whether there is basis for it being true or not. Don’t just look for falsehoods in fact but also by way of contextual misuse and diversionary elements being used to defame credibility. #truth #lies #manipulation
- Clandestine activities were once held from general viewing. Obviously the greater the exposure the more rampant speculation, conjecture, misinterpretation and claims will be made (whether true or not). There is a reason and a purpose for such and it is this basis that forms a determination the degree of it being confidential. As the saying goes “curiosity killed the cat” and thus one might consider whether you really need to know. #clandestine #confidential #secret
- Productivity down since 2005. The Singularity a Near by Ray Kurzwell talks about the Law of Accelerating Returns where technology gains produce reversed returns in so far as human productivity. This always makes one ponder where we make use of this new found free time. For years it has been known, but not always acknowledged, that our work period does not and should not be considered at 100%. My casual general observation sees allot of idle activities even through the individuals are in a employed situation. Some even argue that they are stressed and are overwhelmed with work. Is it overwhelmed because it’s eating into this non-work activity, is it the result of time mismanagement or something else? Will this eventually manifest itself by way of a lack of human productivity that will have to be necessitated by technologies? How will this affect earnings and the channel sources? #productivity #human #technology
- Integrity vs necessity. The lifeblood of analysts are paid for commissioned studies that ultimately lead to what some might conclude as independent and objective reports. It should come as no surprise that revenues of these analyst firms is derived from this source and ‘supplemented’ by membership subscriptions. In effect they are market advertising agents by-and-large. Will that effect your utilization, interest and does it influence your use of their work when making recommendations? Its great to have a narrative that supports your opinions but is the risk excessive when you know there is visible prejudice? There remains the question as to whether the work is scientifically sound and credible OR simply a brand reporting exercise? #analysts #bias #prejudicial #marketing #promotional
- The pandemic has generated a surge in remote events ranging from webinars to full conferences. A number are free and are used to expose the audience to services and solutions. It has been a general observation that while some are a good use of time there are others that are shallow, fail to have a purpose other than one that is self-fulfilling and tend to be a wee bit too casual. Chalk it up to newness and experience but without critical self-evaluation it will create a sea of floundering exercises. Pre-pandemic the program/event market struggled for purpose (value was in face-to-face relationship building and endeared by the wanting desires to travel out of the office). The means to justification was through named individuals or businesses who were showcased by the conference but the connection was hard fought to draw a line between this and purposeful value. Are we making the same mistake again… yes and others are following in a step-wise fashion. - Toxic culture or toxic condition? Does toxicity make the smell noticeable and does this infer pervasiveness? After all a smell may exhibit slight or strong but is no indication as to the extent in which it covers area. The misuse as such creates a situation in which we use toxic thinking to justify flight and not a reason to exploit engagement (‘the fight’). Xi this week expressed intention to improve China’s role and to build friendships. The article received many rebukes relating to trust and mistrust, all of which reflex toxic thinking which is also labeled as prejudicial and biased. The desire for change must be with open and unselfish intentions, any past misdeeds must be rebuilt in an honest fashion. If there is bit of selfish desire hope is lost on the endeavor. Friendship involves trust even when independently different, one cannot command friendship or trust simply by words but through needs. All trust relationships have a strong dependences on openness and communications. So the concept by China is admirable BUT there is a long road ahead, including an understanding that friendship is not words or by command but by unselfish and heartfelt desire. - Are you in the ‘One Last Mission Stage’? You may be between jobs or looking towards retirement (or even entering a state of disability). There are even some who’s mission never ends. It remains as a continuation of the initial commitment made. In the midst is a place of what would appear to be normality. Yet normality is far from the normality of others and life in general. A strong code of self-imposed code of conduct is maintained and is not a script. As the years pass we succumb to the effects of natural change. Despite our earnest attempts to retain afresh abilities and aptitudes there is a slow but definitive erosion of utility. I have seen this take on the form of concrete methods being lost to the present and new solutions come forth that are really the reintroduction of those initial methods. This reflects a loss in continuity and an erosion of productivity as a result (ebb and flow effect). Yet for the rare few we stand at the ready to engage and to contribute for the possessing of experience is a powerful tool when considering these re-introductive exercises. #endurance #oldguard #ebbandflow
- Phishing the Odds; 2021 started out with a fervor of hope and promise compelled by a dishearten 2020 and the pandemic. Here we are mid-year and notability is absent. Time is being wasted, interests are easily aroused by fake or misguided endeavors and compromises are easily endeared to give hope to business confidence. Beware… it’s not about guiding the future through emotion but with fact based outcomes. We are visibly seeing that some of the shallow services and initiatives are showing their true colors. #beware #caution #hope #confidence
