I am a young māmā from Tāmaki Makarau and I am the founder and director of Poi Yeah!

What motivated you to start Poi Yeah!?
I started Poi Yeah to teach my tamariki about entrepreneurship, self sufficiency and being self sustainble. To be able earn their own income and use their putea to buy what they wanted and needed.

Can you describe your business in 5 words?
Making matauranga Māori accessible.

What is one challenge that you have overcome, in your business?
Surviving the struggles that Covid-19 brought.

Will you be attending Te Matatini next week? If so, what are you most looking forward to?
Yes! We will be having scheduled poi tutorials as well as handing out free poi packs each day at Te Matatini. We are looking forward to seeing our culture thrive!
In the lead up to Te Matatini, we're also doing free poi making workshops and we encourage anyone and everyone to come along!
