For Poetry is Useless

There is a great sadness apparent,
Something rings hollow.
The specter of joy vanished
To places to hard too follow.
A smile still so lovely to see
But the light has gone out.
People hardly notice,
Plagued by fear, greed and doubt.
You are so lovely to look at,
Even if all is ever noticed is your flesh.
None try seeing further,
Reality is what can be touched and caressed.
What can be heard
Might as well be paintings for the blind.
No care for thoughts vocalized,
No difference in your words cruel or kind.
For that is the way of the world,
Humanity's own chosen path.
Dreams count for nothing,
As you know, you've done the math.
So why would you choose to believe me
Or trust the words that I say?
I too yearn for your loving touch
And God help me, it won't go away.
All the men who desire you,
Only hoping to sate their lust,
Compliment you with no understanding
Hoping to stir the heart more than the dust.
So forget the words you've heard so often
Instead I pledge a course of action.
I will support your hopes and dreams,
Work towards your total satisfaction
And all I ask in return for this
Is at some future time in some place
You will speak again of future dreams
Whilst in my soft embrace.
(such is one of my dreams)
