Poetic siege

In silent moments,
I held you in my heart.
Hoping that you could feel it.
And today you say,
"This man attacked me with poems,
helped me love my life"?
"Attack?" Go to it,
think no thought of retreating
'til the joy is won.
Towards an unknown soul,
catapults cast haiku,
rhymes climb the ramparts.
Poetic ladders,
to reach the inner fortress,
recklessly scale walls.
Defenses are staunch.
Letters batter bolted gates.
Pixel arrows rain.
Sitting months in siege,
but when the walls break open,
It's not for pillage.
The ruse of writing,
coaxes frightened dwellers free,
rather than invades.
