A Poem a Day: Jesus

Jesus

Will you follow someone you do not know?

Was His work for real or was it just for show?

Throughout history, a lot has been said

About the Son of God who rose from the dead

We know how He was born in a manger

To a harsh world where He was a stranger

Born for one purpose, one singular thing

To save the life of every human being

Signs and wonders He dutifully performed

Miracles so staggering to the imagination

He spoke in parables only a few understand

Yet His own saw nothing more than a man

His ministry has power in depth and reach

Dividing the Word only a Master could teach

With humility and love He took our place

Dying like a Slave to save the human race

His sacrifice silenced the heeding call of sin

Was raised to life, for death cannot hold Him

All our debts paid, all Divine Wrath appeased

Becoming the New Creation God called to exist

As I continue to come out and struggle

From the world where I am now a stranger

I honour the Saviour I chose to follow

And love the God I have come to know
