A Poem a Day: Forbidden

Temptation in various forms do come in life even more so probably when we are successful. What to do you do when you make a grave mistake? Turn to God for His loving grace. Let Him direct you to the right path. Learn from the experience and keep growing in character. That's what being a leader is truly about.

You thought it will never happen to you

Thinking you are strong faithful, and true

But temptation happens just the same

Quite suddenly, no matter who you blame

Using a stranger, colleague, or friend

Does it really matter in the end?

How does a seemingly simple affection

Become a raging, fiendish obsession?

One day you’re a happily married guy

No problems you could tell, far or nigh

Arousing the enemy’s curious frown

Turning your world upside down

The temptress lurks and goes your way

For the first time or maybe every day

She maybe beautiful or maybe not

But she’ll take you, for everything you’ve got

You talk or go out for a quiet meal

Discussing simple things, no big ordeal

Her eyes enchanting, her laugh, so sweet

You can’t focus, think, eat, or sleep

You hug her for the very first time

Who would have thought life can be this fine?

You wonder as guilt comes in treasure trove

Is there such a thing as a wrong kind of love?

As your wife sleeps, soundly in bed

You are crippled by fear unsaid

Does she know anything? Does she care?

You weep bitter tears, your soul laid bare

You cry to God with all your heart

For your pain to go away and to depart

Wishing to wake up one morning and see

Your shackles broken, your heart set free

But like anything in life, nothing is that easy

You must live through the pain, slowly and patiently

Learning the lessons and what they cost

Realizing there are lines that should never be crossed

Yes, people will judge unfairly, you may feel insulted

But sinless people means they have never been tested

So just ask God’s forgiveness and enjoy His loving grace

Walk away from temptation and her deadly embrace.

This is part of the process, His plan in action

Making right decisions amidst the boil of emotions

To ask and receive forgiveness, strength from above

Is the only way we can be imbued with the Nature of God
