A Poem Because I Needed To Write
How to deal? When you call yourself a writer but come up short of words. You allow yourself to get sidetracked by social media and anything else but writing.
Short context
I can't seem to find the right words or topic to write about today. I've spent the day procrastinating and getting sidetracked. Through social media, the news, and politics.
Hours passed and I keep dragging myself to my screen and get a word in. It's now 6 p.m., and my screen is still mostly blank. I haven't come up with anything except random words that go nowhere.
But I'm grateful that I've made it a habit to write every day. My mind is now wringing itself trying to think of something, anything, to dish out for today.
The result? A poem!
Now, I'm not a poet by any stretch of the imagination. But I do enjoy stringing words together. So, I'm going to present you with my attempt at poetry.
Poem: Memories Of The Past
Could not come up with the right words
Still confused and feeling absurd
I cherished your sweetness towards me
Turns out they were for the person next to me.
Thankful now the lines are drawn
Yet why am I still awake this dawn?
Was not ready for a fight that day
But I’m gonna get better someday.
I just wish that day was now
Face another gloomy day, how?
Keep going my mind says

But not something my heart shares.
Years now pass
My heart did surpass
Bad memory of friendships past
Time assures they shall not last.
