Listen to my podcast Princeton Spark, especially the two-part series "You Have a Job Offer from a Startup. Now What?" ??
Thank you. After that, try these ten shows:
I just finished the five-part series from "The Constant" on the Foolkiller mystery submarine in the Chicago River. So, so good. (Some salty language but also the most triumphant use of the "DuckTales" theme song I or Launchpad McQuack ever heard.) Episode recommendation: The Foolkiller Pt 1: Tears Falling from The Sky
The American version of "The Office" was really fun, right? (At least until Jim and Pam got married, then I mostly tuned out.) The "Office Ladies" rewatch podcast from Jenna "Pam Beesly" Fischer and Angela "Angela Martin" Kinsey is a great episode-by-episode trip down the Scranton version of Memory Lane. Those early seasons were genius and the behind-the-scenes stuff they bring out is fascinating. Episode recommendation: The Injury
"Heavyweight" from Jonathan Goldstein is in my top two favorite podcasts besides my own. He helps people go back in time and resolve long-unresolved mysteries, but it somehow is more than just that. Plus his Canada dry humour puts the biscuit in the basket every time, eh? Episode recommendation: Beverley and Van
The other podcast in my top two favorite podcasts besides my own is "99% Invisible". It's a show "about all the thought that goes into the things we don’t think about — the unnoticed architecture and design that shape our world" and it's consistently amazing. Episode recommendation: Their Dark Materials
"Politics and Polls" from Princeton professors Julian Zelizer and Sam Wang is top-notch political analysis. Their interviews with historians and political writers are so informative, and help explain to me why current politics are the way they are. Episode recommendation: #121: The 'Fault Lines' of Modern America
"Hi-Res" from my pal Ryan Starr has great conversations with Philadelphia (and beyond) designers and creatives on process, inspiration, and pop culture. And he's starting daily episodes with good pal Steve DeCusatis as today's guest. Episode recommendation: (a bit off-topic but Ryan's bonus episode on "The Rise of Skywalker" with Philly designers Melissa McFeeters and Dan Gneiding was excellent)
John (The Fault in our Stars) Green rates things within the human existence on a five-star scale and makes a podcast about it called "The Anthropocene Reviewed". It's a must-listen for me. It's part memoir and part Yelp review but all heartfelt. Episode recommendation: Pennies and Piggly Wiggly
"Every Little Thing" answers burning questions like who invented pants and whether to sit or hover over a public toilet. So good. Episode recommendation: Don't Underestimate the Flamingo
A two-fer: I get all my work advice from "Manager Tools" and "Career Tools". What I like about them (especially Manager Tools) is that they explain the workplace. (And why SMART goals aren't that smart!) Episode recommendation: MT Goals Examples and they also just re-posted a bunch of episodes useful for today's remote work environment
Happy listening! ??
