Podcasts and Audiobooks are great...but...??[1 of 3]

Last week I did a thing.

So here’s the scoop:

Whenever I immerse myself in the right community to grow, I have no choice but to level up.

But it took me a minute to learn that.

When I was traveling for my w2, back in the day, I was constantly plugged into podcasts and audiobooks during my commute, obsessing about real estate, passive income, high performance, and balancing life.

In July 2020, I got a mentor.

And she told me “Rachel, if you wanna succeed as a real estate investor, you’ve gotta get really good at your ‘One Thing.’

So I did.

My very first investment was a luxury short-term rental in a suburban area of Georgia and we haven't looked back.

Focusing on our “one thing” (Luxury Short-Term Rentals) came with a ton of nerding out:

You name it, I nerded out on it: ??

- Market analysis meetings with AirDNA and Data Rabbu execs

- Hospitality Education

- Revenue Management

- Productivity processes

- SOPs/PNLs

- Luxury Design

- Amenities that give the ROI

- Listing Optimization

- Hacks

- Taxes

- Passive Income

- Guest Avatar Psychology

- 4-hour workweeks

- Traction to scale

- Relationships/Negotiations

- and the random piece of murder mystery fiction sprinkled in  ??

The nerding out paid off and landed us a Netflix TV show - but more importantly, we’ve been able to help 45 new hosts launch their first luxury STR unit and get their very first booking over the last 12 months.

Again, I love audiobooks and podcasts.  But we all know that real learning comes from human connections, not just books and podcasts.

Social learning in masterminds and coaching groups have truly been a game changer for me because it’s a SHARED experience.

I vividly recall having AHA moments and transformative breakthroughs with others in the ‘room.’

Not in my car...on a plane… rushing to work…. nor on the run in your home office.

The life-changing moments occur when I am in a community with others who share a common goal with me.  They respect and they have a high regard for my goals and my  achievements.

It’s the accountability that comes from engaging in the learning and then the accountability for the *implementation phase.*

It’s when I can report back to my community of colleagues “OK!  I did a thing this week!” And suddenly I’m not alone on the journey.

When you can share “sooooo, I’m thinking of making this next big move…” and others are cheering you on, suddenly it’s not so daunting.

Before I discovered the magic of surrounding myself with community and like-minded entrepreneurs, I thought I could 'spreadsheet’ my way into success.

Wrong. ??

Turns out, I couldn’t theorize my way into gaining REAL Traction.  It was very important for me to find leaders who understood my niche and supported me.  A leader who shared my core values and didn’t see me as just a price tag…. one who honored me and my goals.

?? Thankfully, there some solid leaders out there who will encourage you when you show up and do the work ??

And along the way, yes I sometimes stumbled and ‘learned’ what not to do…. And even encountered a bunch of roadblocks….

A program that has a great system, a great community, and leaders who care and will be there for you, and there’s nothing quite like it.   Nothing can compare to learning with a community of like-minded individuals that cheer each other on.

That’s my hope and suggestion for all of you.

So yes, this week, I did a thing.  I've just returned from an incredible mastermind meeting for our next phase in business.

What are you working on next?

Who are you connecting with to keep you accountable?
