What is Podcasts?

 “Podcast” is a word, which is derived from “pod”, just like the portable audio player. It refers, transmitting programs for general public listening. However, the majority of podcasts are directed digitally to the masses. Nowadays, people listen to podcasts through audio files and XML (extensible Markup Language) feeds.

How podcasts revolutionized the era?

Moreover, Podcasting has enormously revolutionized our communications within the communicating and media sector. It has made organizations work efficiently with their employees and customers. This revolution enabled the audiences to listen to their podcasts wherever and whenever they want.

This digital era has made the podcasts highly portable among the listeners. For example, we can now create an audio program and simultaneously post it on the internet. Eventually, the audiences get access to downloading it and even transfer it to their portable audio player.  

We can now thus say, that digitalization has a huge role to play in revolutionizing the era of the podcast.

The Podcast Industry.

The podcast industry is rapidly growing in India. For example, let’s take the Alexa service. It is just not about an echo speaker but also how well it interacts with you and listens to your commands. In today’s era, Podcast is even involved in your day to day life. Even when you are doing a primary activity, you can tune in your favorite podcast on your speaker, whenever you want. I genuinely think that the introduction of smart speakers in the market was a well- thought strategy which eventually made a huge impact on podcast services and it’s growth. 

The IVM Podcast which kicked off its operations in 2015 has completed more than 67 podcasts shows, with approximately 3,500 episodes. The shows were very popular among the masses and included, The Seen and the Unseen, Election Soundtrack, Waddaplayah, SimbliFIED and Know your Kanoon.

Moreover, amidst all the podcast shows, it was cricket and elections which revolutionized the functioning of podcasts much more. People started listening to Ganatantra, Election Soundtrack, and Puliyabaazi which connect the masses with Indian Premier League (IPL) and general elections.

However, the Music platforms very essentially differentiated the trend of podcasts on two different levels. The content trend was categorized into product type and experience type.

Recreation of new music platforms like Spotify and Saavn gave birth to an all-new podcast listening experiences to the audiences. Such music platforms like, Spotify, Gimlet Media and Anchors saw a whole new possibility approaching with which they can give podcasts a trendy direction in India. 

Conclusion

Podcasts have now become a great market strategy for the Indian economic markets. Various apps are introducing their different genres of podcasts, in their unique way. The audiences are very much appreciating the trendy buzz, the podcasts are creating. The podcasts are not only shown on television but also Youtube, music apps, audiobooks and most importantly the F.M. podcasts are not only entertaining the audiences but also being proved efficient at the economic markets of India. However, analysis suggests that it might struggle in the upcoming time but till then, the trendy vibe of podcasts would continue to remain the same.
