Thinking about starting your podcasting journey? Do you like Joe Rogan or Gary Vee's style?
Have you heard about video podcasting? Traditionally, podcasting is all about the audio experience. You can enjoy listening to it while driving, working and doing your chores. The only difference is that a video podcast has a video element.
Video podcast focuses on both the audio and video experience. It's perfect if you're looking for tutorials, live webinars, or lessons. I use it quite a bit every week to live stream and give people feedback on their LinkedIn profiles (You can watch my LinkedIn hacks here).
Generally, a video podcast demands more attention from your audience. That doesn't mean that you cannot get the same benefits of a podcast. Turning your podcast into a video podcast gives your listeners an extra oomph.
The Extra Oomph of Video Podcasting
On video, your audience can read your body language and see your smile, which will create a more powerful connection. Your audience will see your effort and passion you put into every episode, making sure they know how important they are to you.
But I'm also incredibly lazy (or efficient). I like the rawness oomph of a livestream more, which is why I use Restream. I also don't want to edit :P so livestreaming is part of being authentic. And it amplifies my voice of authority. When I go live, I aim to provide value and educate professionals about how to level up their brand.
By creating a video podcast, you will build stronger relationships a lot faster. You will need a video camera, a mic and video tool like Restream. Remember that you can do both; it doesn’t have to be the one or the other. So, let’s dive a little deeper into video podcasting and whether or not it would work for you.
Here are 5 tips on video podcasting
Who do you think is the king of video podcasting? The raw style of Gary Vee or conversational deep dives with Joe Rogan?
When it comes to creating your own video podcasting, think about:
- What style you want (we use Joe Rogan and Gary vee as case studies and explore how they do it)
- Going cross-platform with Restream as a tool - I use Restream to be more authentic, plus I don't have to worry about editing and I can engage with my audiences on different platforms.
- Think about your equipment - basic equipment is required like a video camera, mic and tools to help you leverage the video and audio experience. The quality makes a difference.
- Make it conversational - the way to resonate with people is to make it feel conversations. Joe Rogan goes on deep dives and has 2-hour conversations with the likes of Elon Musk. Asking the right question and listening is key.
- Bringing guest on board (and how to approach influencers). I share tactics on how you can reach superstars and influencers to be part of your video/podcast series.
Bonus Tip: make it a regular show like the same time, the same day of the week and with a strong niche topic. That's how you can rapidly grow your audience.
