Podcasters are More Generous Than Traditional 'Influencers'?

Podcasters are More Generous Than Traditional 'Influencers'

Sometimes I look at social media posts and wonder “Does that person just post stuff for likes and comments?”

It can be super weird to think about this - don’t spend too long trying to analyze this - or you’ll become suspicious of everyone...

Both Instagram and YouTube have been talking about doing something that hasn’t really been done before.

Instagram is considering removing visible like counts - and YouTube is talking about removing comments.

I kinda love this idea.

Last night I was thinking about podcasts… And how they’re kind of a lone wolf in the world of platforms because there are no:

  • Visible likes
  • Comments to increase engagement
  • Share counts

People who podcast regularly are actually just giving without the ‘perceived social status boost’.

They’re kinda like philanthropists in terms of giving value and support - without any promise of return or success.

So I made up a new word… LOL - but there’s an incredibly important meaning and lesson behind it.

Philanthrocaster.

Podcasters are actually philanthrocasters.

The longer someone podcasts - the more they believe in the value of giving.

That got me curious - how much have I shared over the last 1.5 years?

I totaled it up…. 124 podcasts in 21 months. That’s an average of nearly 6 per month.

So I wanted to grab my top value-packed episodes for you and share them to give you tons of value!!!

Brilliant observation. I've been a podcast freak since...man, 2012 or 2013? I never thought about how the lack of direct communication or social validation might affect the podcast content itself. I think you nailed it!

Hi Rachel, just discovered you through a video of you in the Clickfunnel Affiliate Bootcamp and very happy to connect here. I 100% agree with you. Podcasting is very authentic, since there is just the voice, no other "special effect".? You cannot hide behind anything (likes, comments, editing...). And that is what makes this medium special, I would say more intimate, and I guess attract people willing to connect in a more generous and authentic way.?

Certainly. And if the post was successful they repost and just change a couple facts.

Many do. I was part of a conversation only last night where a mother of a social media influencer complained that her daughter only posts stuff to receive. It makes her question her educational value passed onto her daughter because everything her daughter receives has a one off shelf life. Then it's thrown away or given to charity. Being a social influencer ourselves (my husband and I) we never cared how many likes we received. What mattered from day one was engagement and it turned out to be the best for us since that opened doors to companies people around us in the same niche couldn't open unless they added monetary value. We try to get meaningful relationships to build meaningful bridges. That's our priority. I'm glad there are others who start thinking that way.
