Podcast Listening from a Podcast Listener

Podcast Listening from a Podcast Listener

This is the first post of a few regarding podcasting.  The subject is near to my heart as an ex-radio voice and a compulsive listener.  The below article from the New York Times recently a study of the differences of persons consuming podcasts (in this case, storytelling podcast The Moth), versus music or other content, during their commutes.

Podcasting has become ubiquitous in the present day, and a variety for just any subject matter can be discovered in the giant podcast pool.  The popularity has grown to noticeable levels, best illustrated by the buzz surrounding last year's "Serial" podcast, which covered a years-old Baltimore area homicide case in distinct and painstaking detail (enough to bring fresh eyes and minds to the subject of the show).  I am an avid consumer of a handful of regular shows (I prefer this term to podcast since it really is a show - chat show, live show, sketch show, etc.), and a casual listener of many more.  Among the regulars are Marc Maron's WTF, Greg Proops' Smartest Man In The World, Chris Hardwick (& Co.) The Nerdist, The Moth, and my absolute favorite, The Dana Gould Hour (links below).  As an aspiring voiceover artist, I also visit a handful of VO-related podcasts often, like The Three AmiVOs, Love That VoiceOver, The VoiceOver Insider, voice over cafe, and also Talkin' Toons with Rob Paulsen (also links below).  My mode is audio, and my setting is usually either earbuds in/outside the home, or from my phone in the car.

And taste a couple of these - beware some may contain some adult humor, language or content.  Many contain frank discussion, and the views within are not necessarily aligned with my own.  I just enjoy the eavesdropping.  Along with these links, I am pretty sure all of these can be found on iTunes and other online audio media stores, and best of all, all current episodes - sometimes ALL episodes - are free to download/listen.
