Video Podcasts Are on the Rise.
Still thinking of podcasts as video only? Well, think again. According to a recent report from Cumulus Media and Signal Hill Insights, video podcasts are more popular than ever. So much so that YouTube is now the most-used platform for podcast consumption. It doesn’t stop there, either. Because Spotify also recently stated they now have 250,000+ video shows on its platform. They said: “The number of creators actively publishing videos each month has grown nearly 70% year-over-year.”?
US & UK Podcast Listening Is at an All Time High.
Edison Research have released the results of their latest quarterly audio-listening survey, Share of Ear. The data shows that in the US, podcasting is now almost as big as talk radio, with the margin between podcasts and AM/FM being just 7% (previously 53% in 2017). And here in the UK, Edison also reported the amount of people currently listening to podcasts is more than ever.
Comedy, True Crime, & Sports Are the Most Popular Podcast Genres in the UK.
Are we surprised? After all, us Brits do love a good laugh. On Device Research has released new data on UK podcast listening habits, confirming that comedy continues to top the charts with 38% of listeners tuning in to humour. True crime and sports closely follow with 30% each.
