What is the secret of getting huge engagement on your podcast episodes? What is the right approach to achieve high-power media attraction for your show??Reena Friedman Watts?shares all of her nitty-gritty tips for becoming an expert on your own show.

Reena’s show, aptly titled?Better Call Daddy, is co-hosted by Reena’s father and provides a real-life case study on the importance of in-depth research and a little bit of stalking, along with the importance of social media in building an amazing rapport with your co-host and your audience.

There’s not much Reena Friedman Watts hasn’t done in her professional life. She’s scoured the NPR Newswire for stories. She’s combed through hundreds of small claims cases. She’s worked on reality TV shows like The Jerry Springer Show, Court TV, and Nanny 911. She works on the radio. She’s planned mega-events for the telecom and finance industries and now she hosts an incredibly successful show.

Creating Massive Momentum, Online, and Offline

If you’re a podcaster, content producer, or just want to build your online presence Reena is the person to speak with. Creating massive momentum is her specialty and she has done it again in her latest book “The Podcast Planner: Your 30 Day Guide To Building A Winning Social Media Strategy, Captivating Audiences And Having Fun Along The Way”, which covers everything from getting started, to be yourself and every “how-to” in between.

“My dad is my best friend. That’s how I came up with it. I’m like, “Who is not going to back out on me?” I have been a co-host of another show, which is a little bit of a get-to-know-you process because you share responsibilities. My dad is somebody that I can always count on and so this format made the most sense for me.”

Binge Factor Truth Bomb:?Going blindly into a show with no strategy around format is a sure-fire way to fail.

Know Your Host

Reena says she can talk to her dad about anything, and that should be the case with any host/cohost situation. If you know your host well, you can push boundaries and even encourage them to share relevant stories and experiences. When you know who you’re talking to and you love talking to them, even your guests, it makes for a dynamic show your listeners can’t stop bingeing.

Be Flexible

Reena says we should,?“Stop sticking to the I’m booked out until December type of approach”,?even if it’s true. If you get somebody that’s hard to reach or unique, you make room. You make it work for both of you. Sometimes, the best guests are unexpected and out of your comfort zone, and if the content is worth it, it’s smart to make the time because ultimately, your goal is to create amazing episodes.

Experience is Golden

Reena says that as a podcaster, she’s interested in two things: content expertise and audience reach/influence. So even if someone has no experience podcasting but they have an incredible story to share or life lessons to learn from, those factors could outweigh being unprepared when interviewing them on air because those people can still give great advice to their listeners who might be going through similar experiences themselves. Reena also says that what separates her from other hosts sometimes is that she isn’t afraid to ask questions just because somebody else asked them before — so consider not only previous interview experience but how well-known someone is.

Lean Into Your Tribe

It’s okay to lean into your online community to gain traction. Create a group on Facebook and bounce ideas off of them. If they offer you something, offer them something in return, whether it’s a free coaching session or another service or product. Show them that you are invested too and you will see a definite increase in your engagement and how much your tribe is willing to promote you. This online community should be a two-way street where their voice is heard too.
