POC

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”

The technology is so dynamic today, the tech landscape is changing almost every day. Unlike earlier once in decade or once in few years. Staying up-to-date is a real challenge.

?Most of us here are tech-savvy, so you might know that "POC" stands for Proof of Concept. It's a way to show potential customers or users how an idea or solution would work. But I'm going to tell you about another meaning of "POC." First, let me share a short story about my own journey, which is all about POC.

Allow me to rewind back few years, I was a network engineer at cisco who had become a subject matter expert in my field. I got my CCIE worked with multiple teams, including support and product development. I was feeling so comfortable, but I knew that I needed to challenge myself to grow. I'm a big believer of the quote "If you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room."

That's when I found myself at a crossroad and didn't know what to do next, where to go further. Then, my friend Vinoth introduced me to a group of people who were passionate about learning, sharing ideas, and growing together. I attended their first meeting, and I was intimidated. They were talking about blockchain, cryptocurrency, web3, digital twins, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. I didn't think I would get anything out of attending these meet-ups, but that changed when I attended their second meeting. The People were very welcoming, and I started to explore new technologies, which was a new experience for me.

?Since then, I have been on a journey to explore how I can combine my existing expertise with other cutting-edge technologies. As the world was transforming into a digital world during the pandemic, cloud computing became increasingly powerful. I was fortunate to meet a mentor who guided me to bridge the gap between my domain experience with the latest trends. I found a way to connect the dots by contributing many open-source projects and equipped myself to land a Cloud Architect job at Google.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have benefited from community. which has inspired me to give back to the society. Today, I am happily involved in six tech communities and four NGOs, where I am delivering speeches, sharing my experiences and learning from others. All of these experiences have played a significant role in my personal growth. This story is a testament to the power of community. With the right people by your side, anything is possible.

Throughout this article we've explored the concept of "POC." While it typically stands for Proof of Concept, But I've shown you another meaning: the Power of Community. The above said story serves as a Proof of Concept for the Power of Community engagement. I am witnessing many people from different backgrounds, such as students, corporate employees, and entrepreneurs, coming up together and growing up together.

Community learning is not just about acquiring new skills. It's also about building relationships, developing your leadership skills, and giving back.
