Well, that was a week. Time flies. Two separate but related positive things happened this week, both centred on being present and stepping out of that infamous comfort zone.

Celebrate the small wins, which I will take all day long.

Let me explain.

I held a monthly review meeting. Early small talk led to a comment about reading a previous blog. Great, I thought, mixed with a little nervousness. I should have known it would be lighthearted, though. That message wasn't directed to us, was it? Of course not. The blog was about accountability and owning the past to move forward. Further conversation. It's just business, not personal, quoted. Remember that one from a previous blog? All lighthearted. Agreement.

You see, we have come some way in a small amount of time. There was even a joking mention of a gold star ?? Thank you again.

Any pretence only lasts so long. It's all very well talking the talk, burying your head in the sand, nodding like one of those toy dogs, or waiting till the sun is out and then riding in on your white horse.

Those are the easy options, but where's the value in that? It's certainly not where you earn your spurs.

And the other thing is imitation. I've noticed a lot more activity following a similar pattern and format.

Maybe I am doing something right after all?

Rather than being precious, I welcome it and, in fact, would embrace it more if it means opening the lid on what goes on under the bonnet. I always find it interesting to understand what people are up to and what makes them tick, not the corporate or selling messaging.

But if it's going to be false, a humble brag, or acting like that nodding dog, is it for the right reasons, and, more importantly, where will you go next? People will quickly see through it.
