Poaching season is upon us this Global Tiger Day

29th July – Global Tiger Day. Whilst it’s easy to celebrate the beauty of these stunning animals, it is just as, if not more, important to focus on the threats to their very existence.??

Every year, wild tigers face increased poaching risk, when the monsoon season descends on Bandhavgarh, India from the end of June until early October. As the grass reaches head-height it provides perfect cover for poachers.

Just recently, we received the sad news that a young migrating male tiger had been killed, electrocuted by poachers. It's devastating to receive this news, especially so early in the season.???

The global cost of living crisis impacts local communities in Bandhavgarh, forcing poor rural families to set snares for wild boar or deer meat to sell to survive. These indiscriminate traps kill wild tigers too. The charitable donations we receive are also reduced as people look for ways to cut spending, adding up to a dim double-whammy for protecting wild tigers.????

Throughout the monsoon period we need to quadruple our patrols to keep the poachers away and remove illegal snares. As we struggle with reduced donations due to the hike in the cost of living, if something doesn’t change soon we may have dramatically scale back our patrols. The last time we did that a beautiful wild tigress and three of her 6 month old cubs were killed within a week.?

Could you help???

We URGENTLY need to raise £6000 ($7500) to maintain anti-poaching patrols throughout the monsoon. Without this more than 130 wild tigers could die in poachers’ snares and leave more than 50 tiny cubs to die too.?

You can donate to our anti-poaching patrols easily, via GlobalGiving. Every £ or $ you can spare will be used to protect wild tigers from harm.??

Maybe you’ve started the school holidays with a garage sale or are planning to sell some things on eBay? Are you a small business who could support us through workplace giving via WorkforGood? If you have, can spare a few pounds/dollars to help us keep wild tigers safe? Here are some of the impacts??

Please donate whatever you can afford at https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/saving-bandhavgarhs-wild-tigers/ so we can quadruple our patrols and keep those tiny tiger cubs safe.?

It’s still the height of the poaching season so all the help we can get is much appreciated
