Recently, I passed my PMI-RMP exam and I thought to share my experience with everyone. For me personally, I found it more difficult than the PMP exam itself. While preparing for the exam, I was worried about the questions related to Monte Carlo and Latin Hypercube simulation. What I noticed from a lot of blogs and the Internet is that a lot of people have the same worries. I read some of the users experience where they say that during the exam, these questions make them confused and consumes a lot of time to answer it. Others believe that these questions are there and unmarked and the PMI people have included it to the exams just for the intension of the next version of the RMP exam.
Back to my exam, I found that these questions are straightforward to answer and they don’t take a lot of time (I got proficient on the domain 5- Perform Specialized Risk Activities). All you need to know is just the definition of the Monte Carlo and Latin Hypercube simulation definition, and a little experience with how to interrupt the result. You don’t have to buy a book. The answer to all the questions is from the graph given to you and you don’t have to do any calculations. Whether it is asking what is the probability to finish the project on a specific date or specific budget, you will be able to find the answer either from the graph or the table based on the value of the specific date and specific budget. Also there are questions about finding the P40 or P50. Most of the people as I read from the Internets didn’t know what P40 means. It is very simple, it is asking about what is the cost for completing the project with a probability of 40% on a specific date.
At the end, whether these questions are marked or unmarked it is always good to answer these questions right so that you will have confident with the rest of the exam. I wish that my notes would help you to pass the exam. For further information or questions please leave it in the comment below.
