PM Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi passes away at 100

A glorious century rests at the feet of God, PM Modi said while informing about her demise.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi passed away at the age of 99 on Friday. Two days after she was admitted to UN Metha Hospital in Ahmedabad.

The UN Mehta hospital in Ahmedabad where she was admitted on Tuesday night said in a statement that she died at 3.30 am. Her body was later taken to Gandhinagar

PM Modi arrived at the airport in Ahmedabad in the morning and went straight to the house of his younger brother.

PM Modi reached the residence of his brother Pankaj Modi at Raysan village on the borders of Gandhinagar where the mortal remains of their mother Heeraben.

He sought blessing and later carried her mortal remains. Later, PM Modi shouldered her mortal remains on way to the cremation ground for the last rites.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, former CM Vijay Rupani and cabinet ministers of Gujarat were present for ??Hiraba Modi’s last rites.

Heeraben lived at Raysan village near Gandhinagar city with PM Modi’s younger brother Pankaj Modi. PM Modi carried the moral remains to take the body crematorium.

PM Modi recalled his visit to his mother on her 100th birthday this year. Several leaders and minister expressed their condolences on the demise of PM’s Modi mother.

Modi and his brother shouldered her mortal remains for some distance before placing them in the mortuary van.?

His last rites were performed at a crematorium on Gandhinagar around 9.30 am in the presence of PM Modi, his brother and another family member.

Earlier, the prime minister tweeted that a great journey of 100 years has ended with his mother’s demise.
