Plymouth Torrington Intensive Care Nurses message to Captain Tom
I am totally overwhelmed and proud to have received this message which has been sent to Captain Tom from the ICU department in Plymouth.
This has particular significance for me and I am very proud as the blonde girl to the centre left of this message in the dark blue uniform is my daughter "Becky"
She herself was taken down by the virus going about her normal duties however is back fighting strong to care for people again.
Its amazing what Captain Tom has done in raising funds for the NHS and even amongst all the upset and trauma they witness these people take time out to recognise the contribution that ordinary people make and send Tom a thank you message.
This is not for self gain however for them to have the ability to do their job and the funds to pay for equipment they need in these extraordinary times.
I sincerely hope when this is under some control and life is relatively back to normal that the government never again underestimate the contribution that ordinary people make in trying to save the lives of others.
100 year old men fund raising and people of all ages caring way beyond what their job dictates is truly amazing.
I would call for every NHS worker to receive special recognition by the government for the efforts they all make in helping us through this.
I can remember at the tender age of approximately four years old, Becky wanting a nurses set for her Christmas present. This is all she ever wanted to do and she achieved it ,thank god you did!
Captain Tom should be a "Sir" and every NHS worker should be given a medal for services rendered to the Country.

4 年Nice one Paul. Totally agree with you! And so pleased to hear that Becky got through her own coronavirus challenge ok. All those in NHS are doing a fabulous job and finally, because of this unprecedented challenge, the country has realised what a vital job healthcare workers do. Ultimate respect! The world has changed.
