A pillow block, sometimes known as a plummer block or bearing housing, is a pedestal that is used in conjunction with various accessories and the right bearings to support a spinning shaft. Cast iron or cast steel are typically used to make pillow block housing.
Pillow blocks and plummer blocks come with a variety of unique seal options and end covers to ensure effective sealing. Among the advantages will be the ability to easily mount and remove pre-assembled shafts.
Self-aligning ball bearings or high-capacity spherical roller bearings can be used with pillow block housings. Typically made of high-strength cast iron, they can also be found made of cast steel or spheroidal graphite cast iron. There is a provision for relubrication the bearing housings.
