i have been a licensed #plumber for 38 years. i have been a pickleball player for 2.2 years. 2.4 years ago monica started playing PB with some friends. (she had never played any sports) so i thought this was a great opportunity to join with her and have a sport where we both can play AND be team mates.
it has been a beautiful thing! i love having monica (wife for 34 years) as my team mate.
plumbing and pickleball have a lot in common. (i'm sure you can add to my list)
love the work, love the sport
train hard to get licensed, train hard to get ranked
simple tools, simple equipment
co workers, team mates
new challenge every project, new challengers every game
hi-viz clothing, hi-viz PB balls
study the prints, study the game
read the code book, read the rule book
work with a crew, work with a team mate
and there are many more analogies!

my current rank as the Worlds Greatest Plumber #wgp should last for several more years.
my current rank in PB is <3.0, i have a tall ladder to climb, but with practice, training, study, and lots of rec play...i will become a better player.
it took me 5 years to win an AMA Quad racing title. i assume it will take at least 5 years to win a PB tournament. (i will report back on that)
so whatever your career path, or favorite sport may be. work, study, train, practice and set your goal to be the best of the best. don't let anyone tell you that it's impossible!!!!
and remember, work hard, play hard, Pray harder, and make the world a better place.
