Plum: Where Passion Meets Purpose

Plum: Where Passion Meets Purpose

I have always had an unconventional career. In my first job, I was one among a group of 15 students handpicked from across India's degree colleges for a coveted KPO role at Progeon (now Infosys BPO). After a year and a half at Infosys BPO, I met my future employer while learning French at Alliance Francaise. Talk about coincidences. I was offered the role of an "Assistant Account Executive" at a PR agency (I had never heard of the word PR before this) and the agency was Edelman, a large global PR agency!?

Within Edelman too, I had many firsts. First media coverage. First New Account won. Seven years down the line, I had managed clients like Bosch, Bosch Power Tools, Shell, AstraZeneca, Total Environment, Veneta Cucine, Sanofi Aventis, Wyeth and many others in the Corporate, Consumer and Healthcare space. Then came another first (you guessed right!).?

I joined Axilor, a Seed Fund in yet another new role - that of managing outreach for startups. This was in 2015 when VCs and startups were still few and far between. Again, I had no idea what this role would entail, as the mandate also included managing PR for the Shibulal family and their many group businesses - The Samhita Academy, Vidyadhan, Tamara Leisure Experiences Pvt Ltd. and Shikhsalokam.

Six years flew by and I had learned many new skills: Internal Communications, Branding and a few that now define my life - Content and Community for startups. It was here I started writing my column on the #FutureofWork, a passion project that was featured by CNBC and Moneycontrol (Zoom-Out) and I also got to manage a wonderful Founder community of about 350 early stage Founders. In a way, startups started defining my existence and then, life had another first in store for me.?

Building Content, Community and Communications at Plum (https://www.plumhq.com/). This is a dream role as it combines my passion and purpose. Not only do I get to write much much more, I get to build multiple communities and that too for a cause! Plum has a noble vision to cover 10 million people in India with insurance by 2025 and further extends health and wellness benefits to those covered by Plum.?

If that is not enough, Plum also has some unconventional covers for mental health, the LGBTQ community and a soon to be launched product for the underserved MSME and Gig Economy. I have always been passionate about stories of transformation, organisational behaviour and #thefutureofwork - here I get to live it all and that too by painting my own canvas. Here is to another first! If you are passionate about communities, the HR space, the #FutureofWork or want to know more about what we do at Plum, you can reach out to me at [email protected]
