For many years I've been working from home, or at a client office, or using internet cafes and hotels for my office work. Sometimes the house is the best place to be, but sometimes, plugging in at a busy cafe helps break things up and change focus and motivation. The energy of a bunch of other folks working around you is just what you need some days to stay inspired and motivated.
I'm fortunate to live within 15 minutes walk to 2 busy cafes with large tables and chairs for people to work. The challenge is power outlets. There are never enough for everyone to plug in so it's battery power until your laptop or phone dies. A few years ago I started packing a power bar and a 6 foot extension cord in my backpack. Suddenly, I'm like the man bringing fire to my tribe! Lots of happy strangers asking to plug in. It's a tiny thing but brings smiles to many faces or surprised looks when I pull it out of my pack.
Try it out. It's a simple thing but often brings a smile to a stranger's face. You just might meet a good business connection or a lead out of the conversation. And if that doesn't work, at least you've helped someone out.
