A nation where Rice is Rs.40/- per kg and a SIM Card is free.
Where a pizza you have ordered reaches home faster than an ambulance or police, even if you were being murdered or having a heart attack.
Where a car loan is charged at 9% but an education loan, so necessary for our youth is charged an interest of 12%.
A nation where students with 45% get into elite institutions through the quota system and those with 90% are sent away because of merit..
Where a millionaire buys a cricket team, spending crores and then one great morning we wake up to the scam behind our favourite game. A Nation where we don't spare our favourite sports in creating a scam and shamelessly debate on news hour while we take a corrective measure in scrapping their tainted teams..
A Nation where IPL teams were auctioned at millions of crores, yet still a poor country where people starve for two square meals per day and don't have a place to protect them during the sunny...rainy or severe winter days of the year.
A Nation where footwear is sold in AC showrooms, but the vegetables we eat,are sold on the footpath and very often next to garbage dumps..
Where everybody wants to be famous, not by doing good for others, but finally getting their names in the newspapers through a series of scams which has happened under the bygone political color and getting unearthed in this era.
It's a strange nation we live in, where complex buildings get ready within a year, while public bridges, flyovers and sea links take several years even to get off the drawing board and another decade to be completed and even if it has reached the completion stage...one morning newspaper will wake you up to a horrid story of the bridge collapse due to inferior material usage...
We have malls, and sky-rises, with slums forming their boundary wall..A Nation where men and women squat on railway tracks, with no where else to go while watching them from windows, are couples with three bathrooms and one for the guests.
A country where politicians who are supposed to serve the people accept money from the same people they are supposed to serve, then take a salary from the government for their services to the people and surprisingly they also ask for a 100% pay hike and 75% hike in pension.
We have become a nation where we talk in hushed whispers about the corruption in the country and then dig into our pockets to bribe a cop when we are caught cutting a red light or stand to manipulate a hit and run case to a mere accident via multiple layers of lies in the court room.
I see the change and awakening of people coming in after a decade but till date the changes are only talked about in the noisy debate rooms of news channels but sadly hardly a few are getting implemented.
Political colors changes with years of ruling and big fat promises made in air...but the Plight Of My Nation stays, where it was a decade back.
There are simple remedies and measures which can change this picture of our nation & we all are patiently waiting....

9 年Well said.! Facts are stranger than fiction! https://www.economist.com/news/asia/21656709-government-withholds-report-nutrition-contains-valuable-lessons-secrecy-and. In my view, we need to have change agents emerging from NGOs,religious groups, academic community, news media, corporate professionals, and the like to take the lead in bringing about social change. I feel that the leaders belonging to the older generation who have witnessed the transition of India from post independence era to the present day, would have a balanced view on the present plight of India.. There needs to be a collaborative movement involving multiple stake holders to drive reformist initiatives effectively.

9 年Yes changes can take place if following measures are adopted to eradicate the issues.. 1. A separate fast lane for ambulances and police and not be accessed by public vechiles.. 2. Govt should come up with a rule that a % percentage of sponsorship money from any events, activities, or sports which is in the domain of public entertainment should contibute a miniscule % like 2-3% for the development of human kind..either to build shelters for poor, or to educate the needy students, or development of the state where the event is taking place in form of infrastructure.. The money should be used in the form of decelient of the country and should be duly accounted for and available in public domain for scrutiny.. 3.Quota system should be abolished and merit list should be adopted to get into elite institutions.. An amendment should be done.. 4.i agree with Flt. Lt. Sridhar chakravarthi mulakalari that to create veggie markets which are free for vendors but users pay an entry fee which in turn will be used to maintain the hygiene of the place.. 5. When any builder builds skyscrapers his moral responsibility is to build public toilets in and around the building or society to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation..Make this as mandatory.

9 年Thrilled to read this! If pizza can be delivered in 20 min, so can medical assistance. If we can give SIM free, why not food? If we can generate crores of rupees through sports, why not make them a regular activity every where? There is no dearth of money or opportunity in this country. What is missing is the will to change. How about creating vegetable markets which are free for vendors but users pay entry fee? There is no limit if we start questioning the fundamental assumptions. The biggest is that government should do it. God bless us all...we have survived 60+ years in spite of governments and we shall do so for another 100 years. The question is the path to be chosen. Shall we stay in our nice offices and write about it, or shall we get out there are do some thing. Thanks for a few fantastic game changing ideas ..wow!

9 年Change will come to India, but it will take time. In the end, the hardest thing to do is remove corruption from government; this has been true in many countries, if not all of them. However, so long as private enterprise in India continues to play the game the corrupt political structure puts in front of them, nothing will change. When power is backed by money, there is little anyone can do. When corrupt governments are backed by businesses that profit from the corruption, there is virtually nothing anyone can do. The only hope India has is a populist refusal to continue sitting by and letting these abuses take place. How this would be accomplished is anybody's guess. Some nations have done it with votes, others with guns - neither usually goes smoothly.
