Plenty of Fish launches first in-app card game, Cue'd Up

Today, I’m excited to announce the launch of “Cue’d Up,” the dating industry’s first in-app card game. Over the past few years, our mission at Plenty of Fish has been to take the pressure out of dating and pave the way for more authentic experiences, and Cue’d Up is the perfect example of how we’re bringing this to life. I could not be more excited about the innovation behind this feature and its fresh take on driving connections for daters.?

Prior to launching Cue’d Up, we found that the majority of singles were struggling with breaking the ice and making good first impressions. According to our research, nearly two-thirds (63%) of singles said that breaking the ice is the hardest part about meeting someone new, and 55% stress about crafting the perfect first message.??

Cue’d Up alleviates these common pain points by helping singles foster more meaningful first impressions and via a series of spicy fill-in-the-blank “cues.”? Each Cue’d Up game consists of a small group of singles and four rounds of gameplay. During each round, the players are presented with a fun “cue” (spanning a plethora of topics) to respond to and show off their personality. From there, the responses are anonymously shared with the group, and each player votes for their favorite answer. At the end of each game, the players see who they are most compatible with based on how they voted, and can continue the conversation with their matches in a one-on-one chat or join another game with new singles.?

Available to Plenty of Fish members based in the U.S. today, and rolling out globally in 2023, early insights from test markets in Florida and Texas found that 40% of members who play the game connected with a match, and 50% continued conversations outside of the game.

By gamifying the ice breaker stage of connecting with someone before matching, our goal is that singles will get to know each other more authentically, have more fun in the process, and ultimately - date better.?
