The Pledge of Allegiance

The Lord woke me up this morning and placed this on my heart.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, for liberty and justice for all."
Loving American history as I do, time researching the history of our Pledge of Allegiance happened. Interesting history surrounding the pledge, and many details I was certainly not aware of. Many believe Wikipedia isn't always the greatest source of information. In this case, it truly shares a straightforward story of the history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance
Just thinking about the fact that only a small handful of people were responsible for the pledge becoming part of American history. It began with one man, and his conviction for our country. Then another man took up the cause...adding additional words. In the end, President Eisenhower, assisted in making it part of our national history. There is much more to learn.
In a day and time that we feel unsure of what our future looks like, we can gain strength from this pledge. "One nation...under God." As a Christian, calling upon my faith in God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit...I also gain strength from knowing that my faith is secure. I believe that nothing comes to me except through the Father. My faith is that which I hold greater than any other possession, seen or unseen, in my life. Though life, and our government, seems very haphazard especially right now...I continue to believe there IS a plan. My faith tells me to pray.
In closing, what a beautiful thought that we could all be "One nation...under God." Not allowing our differences to divide us. That each American might experience "liberty and justice." Though it might seem totally unattainable, THIS IS MY PRAYER THIS MORNING.

4 年Great. But my one rant, so to say, is why do we pause when we say “one nation... under God”. The pause to me makes me think there is a hesitation, a question about our thought between our nation being under God. I’ve since then, when pledging say it all together, “ one nation under God”. There is not mistake when you say it this way, we want to be under God.
