Sometimes you just have to do a still life. Still Life paintings can really add interest to a room or wall. I just love doing them! This was painted in Oil in the indirect method. Where you begin with a drawing then a tonal wash. With the underpainting still wet I use a pick out method where I pull lights and ad darks. This at this stage done in monochromatic tone usually an earth tone such as burnt umber.
After the underpainting is dry to the touch I will add the first color layer. Then a 2nd pass paying more attention to details. Then the final color layer. Again detail is important but also hard and soft edges. Transitions from dark to olight, and finally highlights and restating darks where needed. I don't want to leave out reflective light and color as they will really make it stand out.
There it is, ready to be enjoyed by all who view it. It sold, and is now hanging on a wall in Alabama. As an artist there is no greater feeling that someone fell in love with a piece and just had to have it. Well they now have 3 pieces hanging in their home. I love it!!!
