Please Wait, Your Turn Will Come!

Creative expression is about experimenting with ideas as you fix the process…

Here I stare again at a blank page, that mocks me with its whiteness…with its ability to be so empty, pure, open and receptive.

While my own mind plays games — moving in circles, unable to focus on any one thing, one topic…perhaps seeking blankness.

In my search for peace and direction, I often look to the blank page…it helps me de-stress, express myself, my angst, and look within...

All creative expression requires introspection…

Maybe, that’s why it’s an act only for the brave… For those who patiently listen to bombarding voices in the head, and say sternly but gently to them: ‘Your turn will come, please wait in queue.’

The calling to create must be answered… Even if you have no ideas, no motivation and no inclination, the discipline must be maintained.

Because, every time you feel you’re not ready to create, write, talk, or express, is exactly when you should attempt it...as,

The creative process is a cathartic and forgiving one.

Whenever you approach it, it will embrace you with open arms… It knows you’re trying once again, and it knows you will fumble once again!

Like the mother, who knows a child will fall many times before it learns to walk, the creative process will acknowledge and accept those moments of blankness, stillness, of being unable to get up, and find new ideas.

Because, the idea is not the process, it’s the start of it…

It is ultimately the process you build through your craft that holds you, nourishes you and allows you to grow in its space.

Ideas may be plenty or few, but the key is to work on a process that helps you execute the ideas.

Once you follow that creative process, the ideas will begin to flow…

I started out not knowing what to write, but something within me was waiting to burst forth…

The calling may often be a silent one, but it’s up to you to respond and decode it, or to ignore it and continue with your slumber.

The process has now left me with a pertinent question — which comes first, the idea or the process... Or, is it, in fact, a chicken and egg situation?

Several of us want to start doing something but don’t know where and how to start…

Sometimes there are too many ideas and we don’t know which to pick… Sometimes we have the tools to execute, but we don’t have the idea itself.

What must we do then — Wait and watch, ‘stand and stare’… Or, must we simply get down to business, and grind away?

You know my answer already…the blog is testimony of it.

Wait for that kick-ass idea if you will, but don’t wait to work itself, continue working on the process, the craft…

Because, in the process of creating and crafting, you may just stumble upon the beautiful idea you were waiting for!
