On this Thanksgiving Day, may we all take a moment to breathe, relax and release the tensions of this week.. Let's not stop there. Let us release the stress and bitterness that may have built up this year and even in years past; perhaps compounded by differences of opinion. Today is a gift. Many will be coping this holiday season, not celebrating.

More than anyone else, they know that every waking moment is precious and not a time for fighting or holding on to grudges. Let us come together, within our communities and also as a nation. Why must it always be a tragedy that wakes us? Is this the only way we learn? Whatever our background, whatever our race, whatever our occupation and whatever our Faith, may we not take this gift for granted.

Let us be grateful for one another and for the honor and privilege not just to be a part of this great country but, to be alive. If we are tempted to complain about a situation, may we be aware of this and shift  our thoughts to those which reflect things we are grateful for. Choosing our words wisely, and not just our words but our intention behind those words. Is it more important that we have the last word or is it more important that we have Peace?

Let us be grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead. Forgetting the grudges of yesterday, knowing that holding on to a list of wrongs leaves an unhealed wound, exposed.  Sometimes the best way to begin healing is to extend a helping hand, even at a time when we are in most need of one ourselves.

May we be Givers, not just Takers; realizing that the cycle of life is based on a delicate balance of all of those involved- attitudes, mindsets, hearts, etc.  The fabric of life cannot be maintained if you have more pulling on the thread than you have of those weaving it together. This is not sustainable.  Gratitude lifts both the spirit and the mind and we are less likely to criticize or judge another when in this state of being.

May those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving have a wonderful holiday with family and friends.  For those of you coping this holiday season without your loved ones, my genuine hope for you is that you find comfort in the memories you were priviledged to share with them.  That is their gift to you.  Wherever you are, may Gratitude spring and overflow from your heart, may it touch all who surround you.

With a Grateful heart, THANK YOU.
I am Grateful for YOU.  ?
