Jule Kim, PCC is my recent podcast guest, and this is a different episode. I thought it was going to be one thing, and it turned out to be something quite different. Nothing on public speaking, but a lot on being brave enough to chart your own path. Highly recommend this one.
I recently was a guest on the Human Capital podcast. What a fun time talking about Teach the Geek. Check it out HERE.
PUBLIC SPEAKING TIP
I had a conversation with a LinkedIn connection recently, and he asked me about what frustrates me doing podcast interviews. One of the things I told him was guests who ramble and don't answer the question. I do my best to ask questions succinctly so people aren't confused as to what the question is. But every now and then, a guest will go on and on for 5 minutes straight and not answer the question!
My tip to you all: LISTEN!
If you're asked a question, repeat the question back to the asker if you're unsure of what's being asked.
If you understand the question correctly, answer the question that was asked. When you do that, people in the audience are less likely to tune out.
Take time to formulate your answer if you need to. I suspect most people would prefer a well thought out answer they have to wait for than a quickly formulated answer that isn't well thought out.
Until next time.
