Please join me in the fight to end Leukemia, Lymphoma and blood-related cancers through Team-in Training

After a 5 year hiatus as a Board Member and President of Hillel of Silicon Valley, I am now gratefully, past president and have somewhat more time to devote to raising money to fight Leukemia, Lymphoma and other blood-related cancers. While I am still actively involved in Hillel, I'm really excited about doing this season, both in terms of fundraising and training.

For those of you who have known me less than five years, you might not know that Team in Training was a huge part of my life, having participated in 22 seasons of endurance events ranging from a half-ironman triathlon to 2 double century rides (200 miles in a day), 14 century rides 2 full marathons and three half-marathons. My motivation came initially from our cousin Wendy Joyrich who passed away from leukemia in 2000 and then when by brother, Gil was having a bone marrow transplant for leukemia in 2004, I suggested that we do the America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride (aka the Tahoe Century) when he got through his treatment. He said, "No way. We're doing the Seattle to Portland Double Century." Unfortunately, Gil didn't make it to that event, after passing away from side-effects from the transplant. I did the Solvang Century, my first with Team in Training in March, 2005 and then did the Seattle-to-Portland ride in 2005 also in his memory.

I've never completed any one of my Team-in-Training events without drawing on the strength that comes from the memory of the loved ones that I and so many of my friends, acquaintances, supporters and, of course, relatives have lost to these cancers.

This year, I've pledged to raise $5,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on my way to the AMBBR. I would like to do this with your help. Please ride with me on my way to both finish lines, the one at Tahoe and the far more important one, my fundraising goal to help those that are still fighting these diseases and those that will be. You can join the fight by contributing and supporting my fundraising campaign at:
