Please help, if you can!
We have all heard or read the staggering statistics both before and since the Covid-19 outbreak. 38 percent of employees are living paycheck to paycheck, and 39 percent could not come up with $3,000 in an emergency. Almost one-fifth of those making more than $100,000 are living paycheck to paycheck, and about one-third say their financial problems negatively affect their lives.
And all of this was before the outbreak began. Since the outbreak, 10’s of millions of Americans have lost their primary and in many cases, only source of income while still others are living on reduced wages. The elderly and others living on fixed incomes will suffer especially hard due to their inability to buy in bulk or find the things they need in local stores.
We can all hope that local, state, and the federal government will step in to help. We can also take some comfort in the fact that some employers are stepping up at least for the time-being and providing paid-leave and in some cases continuing to pay employees who would not otherwise be eligible for paid leave. But, there will still be large numbers of individuals and families that will inevitably fall through the cracks. It is my hope that those of us who can, will choose to help when and where we can to support those in need.
It is in this vein that we have elected to support All Faiths Food Bank which supports both Sarasota and Desoto counties in SW Florida. All Faiths is one of hundreds of organizations around the country that are associated with Feeding America.
If you are able to give to our fund raiser for All Faith’s and can do so without impacting your own well-being or that of your family, we would sincerely appreciate it. If you’d prefer to give directly to Feeding America, the link is provided above. You can also check out their site to see if they support an organization in your community.
Whatever you decide, we wish the best to you and your family and hope that you will find ways to help yourselves and your community!
