Please Help Me, Help Others

Having lost so many loved ones to cancer, I am on a mission to make a difference.

This year I raised more money than last for breast cancer early detection.  I am part of the Barbells for Boobs fundraising team and came to know them through my connection to the Crossfit community.  So far my personal efforts have raised over $28,000.  Simply because I have the kindest, most generous, friends, family, and colleagues one can ask for...

This year, Barbells for Boobs invited me to go the Parkland Hospital Breast Center here in Dallas. For the first time ever, I got to see where my personal donation, and the money I raised went.  I witnessed how it got put to work and left there a different person.  I was changed for the better, and with an increased passion to do more.  I am humbled by the devotion of those who work there day in and day out.

What the people at Parkland are doing to help those in need is of paramount importance.  The money we raise provides biopsies (post mammogram) for those without the funds to afford it. Without these funds people often just walk away knowing a mammogram detected a spot or lump, but with no information beyond that.  This often leads to late detection (if at all) and in many cases, no hope for timely / effective treatment.  The ending isn't good.  Sad, but true.

I think we all have the power to do more.
