Please help to make a difference to the kids of Fiji
In July I’m riding 500km over 4 days around Fiji’s main island of Viti Levu raising much needed funding to support CureKids Oxygen Project in Fiji.
Oxygen is a lifesaving treatment for many severe illnesses in children, many of which are leading causes of death in Fiji.
Currently Fiji’s gas cylinders come from NZ, which is a very expensive exercise and results in the rationing of much needed Oxygen to the kids that need it.
The cleverly designed solar powered oxygen delivery systems we are fundraising to install throughout hospitals and health centres in Fiji take the ambient air, filter out the nitrogen and deliver 98% pure oxygen. Once installed, the delivery system costs next to nothing to run and provide an almost unlimited supply of oxygen.
CureKids currently have 3 systems installed and successfully operating at key centres throughout Fiji, and more soon to be installed.
Last year we raised enough to buy one unit and this year’s ANZ Fiji 500 aims to raise enough funds to purchase 2 more units, living proof that great challenges bring even greater rewards.
We will also be working with the John Maclean Foundation to provide two disabled Fijian kids with new wheelchairs which we will be delivering to them during the ride.
