Please Don’t Sit In The Grief of This Election

Please Don’t Sit In The Grief of This Election

Hey beautiful people! I, like many of you, am saddened that the American people voted the way they did. I had hoped we were ready for the kind of change that Vice President Kamala Harris would have brought to the white house as president, but the people have spoken.

Although my heart is heavy about what this means for us all during the next four years, I have to believe that the world can still be a better place as long as we’re willing to keep doing the internal and external work that allows space for transformation.

The pervasive thing about grief is that it will have us stuck in unbearable emotions preventing us from activating change for ourselves and those around us. Although grief is an essential part of honoring the fullness of who we are, it is critical that we don’t linger there too long.

For one, lingering only makes us suffer more. and for two, we can become apathetic about the state of the world and the ills that we predict from that place. This then alchemizes to immobilization preventing us from doing a damn thing to change our current state. A more optimal way is to give ourselves an opportunity to feel all the things so we can release and move forward. Because as in the words of Vice President Harris, “we’ve still got work to do.”

Each and every one of us has the power to curate the world we seek to live in. Yes there are always forces working against that, but we get to choose what we’re going to focus on. The Course in Miracle teaches us that we can choose this or peace.

Today I choose peace so I can get on with living and doing the work I know I’m called to do to make our world a better place. I hope you’ll join me in choosing peace as well.
