Please Don't Please Everyone

7 billion people in this world, and 99.99% of them will most probably not give you their money. But then again, 0.01% of 7 billion is also a huge number.
Someone might say that only 1% of Twitter follows them. It might seem low, but from another angle, that is 3 million people.
You see, you can do pretty well even if you ignore 99% of your potential consumers, because in reality, they were never your potential consumers. Most of the people at any place at any time will not care about what you're offering. And guess what? They don't matter.
They don't matter because what you're offering, is not for everyone. What you are offering will not be accepted by everyone, no matter how hard you try. And if you make the mistake of try to please everyone, you will also end up listening to opinions of everyone. That effort itself is futile because in this process you will piss off those 1% who really care about your offering and go out of their way to place an order with you.

JK Rowling faced a lot of criticism for her writing style in Harry Potter, but those critics never mattered because those writing experts were never her audience. If she had listened to them and made changes according to their opinions, she would have lost a certain percentage of her core audience, who just loved her writing the way it was.
Figure out what your niche is, develop an understanding of who your real potential consumers are, and just make and market for them. Deliver to them, listen to them, and change for them. Only for them. Otherwise you will end up running in 8 different directions, and still reaching nowhere.
Again: You do not want more people. You want right people. It doesn't matter if the audience size is small. What matters is how much they think you care for them. And in turn how loyal they are for you.
Create for them and they will buy from you. The best part: They themselves will get more people like them, to join you.
