I would like to send this out to express my gratitude for everyone’s lovely words and sentiments around my retiring. I am blessed and grateful to be in such a position. It will be strange not teaming up with Michael after 15 years so I have devised a strategy!!

In a bid to sever the umbilical cord from my beloved Girvan Waugh I have committed to another, much more important venture.

From November 4 it will be Waugh Waugh for 7 days.

I have committed to completing the Steve Waugh Foundation Captains ride.

A 700km cycle in south east Queensland starting in Toowoomba and finishing in the Gold Coast.

In short if you haven’t heard of a disease chances are

The Steve Waugh Foundation is raising money to help Children and their families to get through the challenges.

As I indulged in the announcement of my retirement, Steve and Lynette Waugh are preparing tirelessly with their amazing team to facilitate some so 50 riders can indulge in our passion, all in the aim we raise both awareness and $$ to help these families and their children cope with rare disease.

Fundraising is a paradox, whilst money is important, awareness is the catalyst for change. My request is this.

I would love to see 1000 people donate $10

rather than 10 donate $1000.

Awareness and education open opportunities, and break down paradigms and attract the people who can to open doors for support, acceptance and cures.
