Well, the coronavirus has managed to do it again. Just when we thought we were starting to understand this bug much better, it throws us a curveball We don't have a cure or a vaccine for the virus yet, of course. And no home run treatments either. But the experts have assured us that we at least know COVID-19s warning signs. And that's huge. Because a quicker diagnosis could mean a better and faster recovery. The only trouble is, like with so many other things with the coronavirus, they were wrong. There's a lot they missed when it comes to symptoms. And they've been forced to revise the official list of COVID-19 signs and symptoms. It turns out at least one of the ones they initially dismissed COULD be a critical early warning sign of infection. So let me cut through the confusion and clear out the smoke. I've got the latest on what symptoms to look for when it comes to coronavirus.

Summer weather doesn't deter COVID-19

For a little while there, it seemed like we had the virus on the run. But it turns out the infection was toying with us. Now, it's back with a vengeance. And any hopes it would turn "seasonal" and fade for the summer are dashed. Not only is the coronavirus NOT seasonal. It seems to be striking even harder in the USA states with the hottest weather, Texas, Arizona, and Florida. Infections are topping 50,000 new cases a day. Negative cases from increased testing are not keeping up. And at least one expert said the actual number of positives is at least four times higher.

The truth about coronavirus symptoms

There're probably several things causing the rise in cases. But one of the BIG reasons for the explosion may be that many people STILL aren't sure what symptoms to look for after four months of conflicting information. Because if you don't have the infamous cough or high fever that they've focused so much attention on, guess what? You could STILL have coronavirus. The latest analysis finds that half of coronavirus patients have "COVID cough." Which, of course, ALSO means that 50 percent of those infected DON'T. Plus, that same CDC analysis finds that 43 percent have a fever. And that means 57 percent DON'T have this symptom which has been considered one of the most reliable signs of coronavirus. Muscle aches and headaches strike about a third of patients. And the frightening "shortness of breath" that was supposedly a hallmark of infection only strikes one in four. The report also finds 1 in 20 with the infection suffers from a runny nose, which was once considered NOT a reliable symptom of coronavirus.

In other words, all the things you were told were a sure sign of the disease might not appear at all. And at least one of the symptoms you were told isn't common in COVID-19 cases could actually be a sign of infection. So here's what you do. If you feel sick, regardless of whether your symptoms are on the official coronavirus list, CALL your doctor. Don't delay. Remember, these infections can move fast and be more severe in seniors. An early test could ensure you get quick attention when you need it most.
