Please Do Not Base Your Goals On This

In this newsletter, I’m going to reveal the biggest trap when it comes to your goals and desires.

Before we talk about what it is though, here’s a question for you:

Think about some big goals you have or bucket list items. Where did the inspiration come from?

That question (“Where did the inspiration come from?”) is key.

If your goals are based on other people’s programs (OPP lol), it’s not a stable foundation.

Here’s why.

Chasing things based on other people’s programs is a trap.

It’s surface-level motivation. So when you encounter obstacles, you give up, instead of digging deep and persevering.

Chasing other people’s programs also distracts you from your inner wisdom and takes you out of alignment with the wisdom of your soul.

Examples of Chasing OPPs

Let’s start with an obvious example of chasing other people’s programs.

Example 1: A kid who chooses a college major and career because of their parents.

The parents want the kid to be a doctor, so the kid ignores his or her inner wisdom, puts their head down and studies medicine. They drag their feet through med school, barely getting by, and becoming miserable. If the kid really wanted to be a writer, for example, a career as a doctor would be soul crushing.

That’s an obvious example. And one that most people can (hopefully) catch, even in the own lives.

But there are more subtle examples that so many people fall into without even realizing it.

Example 2: Starting a business or side hustle is another big one.

I’ve seen lots of people come across a piece of clickbait content saying something like, “eCommerce is the best way to make money right now.” Then they go and try to sell cheap widgets online, hoping to make boatloads of cash.

They do it, not because they really want to. Not because it lights them up. But because someone on the internet said it’s the best way to make money. And what happens? It feels like another job. As soon as they come across obstacles, they quit. Because they don’t have that DEEP motivation to do it.

Example 3: Writing a book.

It’s the same with writing a book.

If you want to write a book because you think it’ll boost your ego, or you think it’s a quick way to make money, you’re in for a rude awakening.

If you’re not inspired on a soul level to write a book, it’s going to be sooo hard to follow through with. And guess what? As soon as the inevitable obstacles come up, you’ll quit. Because you won’t be able to dig deep and draw intrinsic motivation.

Seeing the themes? Okay we’re getting to something here.

The Best Foundation For Your Goals

So what’s the solution?

What is the best foundation for your goals?

I call it Deep Knowing.

It’s when you just KNOW, deep down, that you HAVE to do something. It’s soul-level inspiration.

I’ve had this deep knowing when it comes to elevating the consciousness of humanity through writing since I was 20 years old.

I just knew, deep down. It felt like a subtle calling that was always there, underneath all of my doubts and fears, even underneath my human identity.

When you have a Deep Knowing to do something, NOTHING can stop you.

You access a level of motivation that’s inexhaustible, and you find a way to do it, no matter what.

How Sozwik Came To Be

My book Sozwik came to be because of a deep knowing.

Well, a deep knowing combined with lots of signs and synchronicities.

Since I was a kid, I gravitated strongly to learning about sasquatch and other fringe phenomena like UFOs and alternative history.

While hiking with a friend, he mentioned a theory that sasquatches are actually from another planet. That piqued my interest, so I made a note.

Then, on another hike, a couple years later, I had this big “what if” moment. While making my way back to my car, I heard the subtle whoosh sound of a car in the distance. And I thought to myself, “What would it be like to be a sasquatch hearing that sound for the first time?”

Little did I know, that would become a scene in Sozwik.

After several more things like that happening, it was clear what I needed to do… Write a story about an extraterrestrial sasquatch shaman who comes to Earth.

So I outlined then wrote Sozwik.

I’ll tell you this too. My inner knowing continued throughout the writing process (and gave me infinite motivation). Somehow, I was able to channel wisdom that I’m still decoding now.

That’s the power of following your inner knowing, using signs from others to reaffirm it, then following through with it.

How I Started Helping People Write Books

This was another deep knowing for me, but in a different way.

I’ve always been passionate about writing, inspiring other people and helping others share their gifts.

What activated a deep knowing for me around helping other people write books actually came from other people. This was something that was already within me. I felt it intuitively, but hadn’t consciously realized it before.

For years, people would ask me to help them write a book. And I did, giving advice here and there. Looking at people’s writing. That kind of stuff.

But after this happened 7-8 times, I couldn’t ignore it.

In the middle of this, I also helped create a workshop (with the company I worked for) to help people write books to grow their business.

I never thought I would help others write books. I never researched how to make money by being a book coach. It just came to me. It emerged organically. And it was connected with the soul-level passions I mentioned above (writing, inspiring other people and helping others share their gifts).

This is what led me to create the Divine Write program.

It’s also what led me to create my free book outlining workshop.

3 Blocks To Watch Out For

Everyone has deep knowing. Yes, EVERYONE.

However, there can be some blocks that prevent you from tapping into it and bringing your soul-level desires to fruition.

Here are the three blocks:

Block #1: Your deep knowing is unclear.

If it’s unclear for you, you need more space with yourself. Simple as that.

You need to slow down and do things to actually hear the subtle whispers of your soul.

This could be meditation, prayer, hiking, walking outside, creating art, etc.

The best way I’ve found to create space for yourself and clarify your deep knowing is JOURNALING.

I have a couple journals that are great for this:

• Transition & Transformation Journal

Block #2: You know, but you’re not doing it.

If you have a deep knowing, but you’re not doing it, you need more courage and discipline.

How? Focus on daily habits.

If you’re feeling called to write a book, write every day.

If you’re feeling called to build a business, complete one task every day.

When you practice daily habits, it builds momentum and compounds over time. This is how you accomplish any meaningful goal.

Block #3: You’re already consistent, but not getting results.

In this case, you have a clear knowing. You also have the courage and discipline to work towards it consistently. But things aren’t working out.

What you need here is more confidence and faith.

Believe in yourself. Trust yourself more.

Acknowledge yourself for little wins to build confidence.

And have faith in a higher plan.

Your ego isn’t running the show (sorry). Practice surrendering to the higher forces that shape your life.

When you learn to trust and align with a higher power, you end up walking the most effective path.

Remember This

When you chase other people’s programs, your motivation is weak and you lose direction in life.

When you let a DEEP KNOWING guide you, you align with the truth of your soul. From here, success and fulfillment blossom naturally.

Have the courage to acquaint with and follow your DEEP KNOWINGS.
