Please allow me to continue serving you Elgin.

Retired LEO, Retired USAR, USA Triathlon Level 1 Coach, NASM Certified personal trainer,NASM Nutrition Coach, TEA PE teacher, Veteran
I have served my entire adult life, having retired from the Military with over 20 years of service, and I am now in my 22nd year of service as a Law enforcement Officer. My calling is service and community volunteerism. Working hard, doing chores on our family farm, learning the value of a job well done, and the power of working together are values formed during my childhood. Residing in central Texas for the last 25 years, I believe in our community, strong Texas values, and I will work for you.
My military positions included responsibility for people, equipment, and missions during peacetime and combat. I bring that leadership to the City. My law enforcement experience has included training and experience managing critical incidents. My certification by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Incident Command will directly benefit Elgin emergency preparedness.
My most valuable experiences are that of volunteer and activist for our schools and community. My mission is to bring people together to find solutions and get things done. I sit on the Career and technical education advisory committee for Austin ISD and enjoy serving as a substitute teacher at Elgin ISD. I have been invited to join an advisory board to help develop curriculum at Texas A&M Commerce for safety and health professionals and invited to serve on the University of Houston, C.T. Bauer College of Business Customer Experience Advisory Panel in Austin. I see the value of education and career training and will continue to be involved with our next generation. My professional values place providing help to our next generation as a top priority. My leadership experience also includes serving on the Sheriff’s Memorial and Benevolence Society board as well as Travis County Green Team.
The biggest challenge facing the city of Elgin will be our ability to manage growth. This is a whole-of-community effort. It requires continuous dialogue between our citizens and City Council. Our proximity to Austin is creating a local housing boom in Elgin. Leaders have a responsibility to plan for this growth. We must collectively ensure our community does not exceed our ability to serve. We will achieve this goal with intelligent planning focused on improving our infrastructure. As we grow and improve, we need always to maintain our small-town charm as best we can.
As a visionary leader, I see population growth on the Travis County side as our major planning need. Currently, Elgin is mostly within Bastrop County; however, most new housing developments appear on the Travis County side. That population growth will soon impact our resources and our management capacity. We must balance our city growth with the needs of our citizens. This requires we diligently seek more resources from the county, state, and federal agencies. I want to work to ensure the next five years of Elgin's growth and prosperity are as vibrant and exciting as our past. We must remain a city where people will want to live and raise a family.
My proudest moment during my brief tenure was my action in service to our community during the recent winter storm. I was very proud to see how our community came together to help each other. This event also laid bare the issue that we need the right leadership to improve our city’s emergency preparedness and response – and I am confident that I am that person. My military record, law enforcement experience, academic service, and FEMA certifications give me the right experience, a healthy dose of optimism, and the training necessary to improve Elgin’s emergency preparedness.
I have led a life of selfless service to the Nation and the Central Texas community. Elgin is my home. I want to help our community navigate the future together. We can maximize our results through active dialogue. In the Army, as a Deputy, as a volunteer, I led and built teams. Throughout my time in military service, I learned the importance of listening to every voice. I am here to give my neighbors a voice on the Elgin City Council. I deeply care for the future of Elgin and our community. My roots in Texas go back three generations that I know of, I returned to central Texas after my active-duty service because this is where my heart beats strongest. Since returning, I have spent much of my time serving our community. From our schools to actively serving in law enforcement, I have dedicated my time to you—my fellow Elgin citizens.
No one cares more than I, and no one will work harder for Elgin and you, than I.
I will advocate for:
The existing 5-year plan.
While ensuring fiscal responsibility work to ensure Elgin’s growth and development is appropriate and continues to make Elgin a better place to live and a safe community to raise a family.
Emergency preparedness.
Our emergency management plan needs updating; I will work to ensure we can anticipate issues and respond appropriately and develop an improved communication system to ensure no one is left out while maintaining complete transparency.
Public Safety/ community policing
I have an extensive law enforcement history, and I want to bring that level of experience to help develop the Elgin police department as it grows with the city. I seek not only to improve within the agency but to bridge the gap between the public served and Officers.
I seek to build relationships with our community and City Council.
We are all here to work together, and I am here to work for you, Elgin.
