Playing RBC's HarbourTown - Hilton Head, SC.

We frequent HarbourTown ~every 6-months and for over ~the past 20-years, but this year, it was time for me to dig in, actually play the course vs. just watching the Pro's play here.

Every April right after the Augusta Masters, the Royal Bank of Canada Heritage packs HarbourTown Golf Links. Last year (2023), we watched 'Heritage' title champion Jordan Spieth hand-off the win of an the iconic “Sir William Innes” Champions Trophy. This year 2024, Scottie Scheffler brought Home the win for a $3.6M payout! I think he should buy a Dream Home from www.zanepetersen.com .

With a November 2nd (2024) Tee-time, HarbourTown Rates and traffic are about the lowest of the year, think I paid $340 but I also grabbed a Caddie to ensure an 'exceptional' experience. William Sturm (Senior Assistant Superintendent) at Sea Pines Country Club came out to help.

Will received a 4-outta-4 for Attitude, Locating Balls, Cleaning Clubs, Filling Divots, Raking Bunkers (see below for explanation), Repairing Ball Marks, Reading Greens, Measuring Remaining Yardages and Overall Course Knowledge.

Hiring a ForeCaddie vs. Caddie

I played with two fellows from around the Bordesholm/Kiel and Hamburg villages, so we had some fun speaking new and familiar (swear) words. I recently visited Germany to see my friend in Wackenheim who is from Hamburg, back in December and January of this year. FYI, Bordesholm is where my family lived before relocating to Northern Minnesota back in the late 1800's.

ForeCaddies run $40. They help with distance and do supply 'some' general course knowledge. The German's had Eric. But I hired William Sturm, a Caddie, and man did we have a GREAT time! Caddies run $125 + Gratuity but they do absolutely everything for you and now I look at the Pro's in a whole new light.

Having a Caddie is the only way to go and allows you to concentrate only on your game, you do nothing (underlined) else. Will provided priceless knowledge and discussions on where the Pro's aim for on the course, shortcuts to ensuring shot #2 hits the green (or less) and 3 gets it in the hole. He's too is a great player who's greatly reduced his handicap over the years and he provided great instruction, though he does not consider himself anything close to an instructor.

Will carried the bag, and just made concentrating on the shots, placement and knowing where to land the ball, so much fun. I knew playing HarbourTown was going to be a great time, but It was much more than that, it was an impeccable experience to play not only one of the World's BEST golf-courses, but also to be able to play where the Pro's play every year!

Of course 'MY' Caddie ??also happens to be a #prophotographer, so Will's help in capturing these shots was a blessing that surly archived one of the best days I've had.

The 4,000-TFSF Pro's Locker Room

Probably one of the things I enjoyed most during my day of play was when I was given a special opportunity to visit the Pro's Locker Room. @jonrahm 'Rahmbo' is my favorite golfer, but so is Ricky Fowler, and locker #63 is his.
