Playful progress
While at the park with my niece last month, I saw her struggling to remain balanced on a beam.
Every time she fell, she would smile and say in the cutest voice you could possibly imagine coming from a toddler: “gotta get up!”?
The attitude she brought to the challenge reminded me of something that I seemed to have forgotten in the last few years: the pursuit of progress can be playful.?
You can fall and angrily?—?exhaustingly?—?get up while critiquing yourself, or you can practice rising with grace, learning whatever there is to be learned, and simply resolving to try again as my niece did.?
