Playful Mindset

Playful Mindset

As an experienced practitioner in the field of play and innovation, I can attest to the benefits of adopting a playful attitude. Scientific research has shown that play can reduce stress, enhance creativity, and improve overall well-being. This is because playful behavior stimulates the release of dopamine and serotonin in the brain, which are neurotransmitters that help regulate mood and decrease stress levels.

In fact, intentionally adopting a playful mindset while moving through doorways can be a powerful way to tap into the benefits of play. By using this mental cue to consciously let go of negative thoughts or stress from the previous environment, you can approach the new space with a more positive and open mindset. This can improve your ability to adapt to new situations and make the most of opportunities for growth and innovation. For example, on the first day of my d.School class, I put down a hopscotch map to give a gentle nudge to switch the students' mindset. Many took the cue and hopped through the doorway, which produced big smiles on their faces. So, don't underestimate the power of play in improving your mental and emotional state!
