'Play Like a Girl' Leadership Program Reflection

“Our leadership level depends on the people we surround ourselves with,” this was my key takeaway from completing Holly Bailey’s Play Like a Girl Leadership Program.?

During the Play Like a Girl leadership program, I connected and learned from the experiences of some amazing women who all faced different challenges as they navigated their sports leadership journey across a variety of roles.

Over the course of Holly’s program, we built on a different skill each week, we discussed our experiences and connected further as a group. I specifically enjoyed learning about the five ‘Levels of leadership’ - Position, Permission, Production, People Development, and Pinnacle.? We are constantly scaling up and down the leadership spectrum depending on where we are and who we’re with.

I took away the importance of having an “A-team,” and identifying my mentors, my coaches, my role models, my sidekicks, and whom my “Connectors,” are. The Play Like a Girl leadership program provided me with an array of tools to strengthen my off-field skills further, build on my leadership skills, and grow my professional network.?

I highly recommend applying for the Play Like a Girl program if you are a woman in sport leadership.
